FREE Young People sessions at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery

Young Creators

Love art? If you are aged 16 -25 you could work with us to plan, create, and experience new skills in the City’s museums.

You will be involved in the workshops as well as having fun and meeting new people, you will gain new skills. Trust us, it's also going to look great on your CV!

The Young Creators sessions take place on Thursdays 4.00-6.00pm.

These activities are inspired by the exhibitions at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery

  • Work alongside a range of different artists, curators, and practitioners.

  • Create and plan innovative projects, events and career-driven workshops.

  • Increase your confidence and self-esteem, helping you make sense of the world.

  • Meet new young people working towards making positive creative changes in our communities.

  • Gain invaluable skills to add to your CV.

  • Attend exhibition openings and talks.

  • Gain an Arts Award qualification.

  • Become a volunteer.


COVID-19 measures will be put in place for these sessions. We will have smaller groups of up to 15, socially distanced and sanitised workstations.

11th and 18th November:

A 2 week project working with the artist Khush Kali. She is a Leicester-based artist who uses collage, drawing, digital media and sculpture to explore the everyday experience of the urban environment, influenced in particular by the history and context of Leicester, migration and cultural identity. Kush has exhibited in the UK, USA and India. Her work is held in the public collection of the City of Leicester Museums Trust and in private collections in Canada, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands and New Zealand. She has a BA and MA in Fine Art from De Montfort University, Leicester. She is passionate about inclusive and accessible art-making for all and regularly works with young people and community groups of all ages from all over Leicester.

The sessions will be delivered by the Children and Young People’s Officer, Manjit Garcha and an artist.
