Event Description

The story of Leicester’s LGBTQ+ community’s response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic

Positive Leicester

The story of Leicester’s LGBTQ+ Community’s response to the world changing HIV and AIDS epidemic on its 40th anniversary and how that community created a lifesaving resource for all.

We are especially pleased that this exhibition will include the display of the poignant and thoughtful Leicester AIDS quilt, as well as images, stories, a timeline, audio-visual, and artefacts.

Produced in partnership with Trade Sexual Health, the exhibition will be located in the People’s Space within the permanent Leicester Stories Gallery. It provides a space for contemporary communities to share their experiences of life in the city, their heritage, and their stories.

Want to be part of the conversation?

The exhibition includes two ‘e-ink’ digital labels that display local people’s memories and experience of the HIV and AIDs epidemic.

If you would like to share your own comments, please use this quick online form.

Your comments will be shown on the digital labels for people to read during their visit to the exhibition this winter.
