Description
The first youth-organised climate action group in Leicester

Climate Strike Leicester are an entirely youth-organised climate action group formed in 2019. Inspired by the global "Fridays for Future" movement headed by Greta Thunberg, they are the first ever under-18s climate organisation to be active within the city of Leicester.
The purpose of Climate Strike Leicester has always been to protest government inaction on the climate crisis and to promote climate justice, serving those most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. A secondary purpose of the group is that it creates a space for young people to become involved in, engaged with, and excited by climate politics.
This exhibition tells the story of Climate Strike Leicester so far, through photographs, protest banners and the video Our Journey in Activism.
On display in the museum entrance hall during the month of April, to mark Earth Day.
