The writing we find on the historic Guildhall stained glass

Leicester's guildhall is known for its collection of stunning stained glass, but if you look closely - there's more there than meets the eye.

Join us for a talk about historic graffiti and in particular- the writing we find on glass.

These writings, called glazier's marks offer a glimpse into the a building's past and story.

In this talk we'll discuss how different people used graffiti, and what this tells us about the past. 

Crystal Hollis earned her PhD in archaeology focusing on historic graffiti from the University of Exeter in 2024.  She has worked on parish churches throughout the country as well Southwark and Exeter cathedrals.
