Heritage Open Days: Abbey Pumping Station Guided Tours
Event Description
Enjoy a behind the scene look at this fascinating venue.
We plan on having two simultaneous hour-long tours at the Abbey Pumping Station:
- Beam Engine Tour
- Transport Shed Tour
Leicester Museums Technology Association (LMTA) volunteers will conduct the tours to the Beam Engine house detailing the various construction and operation aspects of the Beam Engines, including the historical significance at the time of its manufacture.
The Transport Shed Tour includes viewing the heritage vehicles in the APS Transport shed including but not limited to Aveling & Porter Steam Roller, Bagnall Steam Locomotive “Leonard”, Leicester Corporation busses, Dennis Fire Engines F8 and F7 and many more. Story of every exhibit will be detailed by the LMTA Volunteers.
Maximum capacity for each tour is 10.
Tours are suitable for children who are accompanied by an adult.
