A free poetry workshop with award-winning poet, Jess Green

Poet & writer Jess Green has been commissioned to write a new poem for the Leicester Stories exhibition which is being developed at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery. She is running a free creative writing workshop for Leicester residents aged 18+ using the theme 'I Come From' as research for her commission. Jess is an award-winning performance poet and script writer. She has written episodes for EastEnders and Casualty, was a part of BBC Writers Academy 2019 and is a BBC Slam Champion.
The workshop will take place on Saturday 3 July from 2pm to 4pm in person at the Lord Mayor’s Parlour, Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, 53 New Walk, Leicester LE1 7EA.
No previous writing experience necessary.

How to book
Please email: clare.hudson@leicester.gov.uk with your name, age and postcode using ‘poetry workshop’ in the email title. Clare will confirm your place by email. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Coronavirus measures
On arrival participants will be required to:
- Register with NHS COVID19 App (or with LCC Test & Trace system)
- Wear face masks
- Partake in a brief verbal health questionnaire
- Sign into the site as part of site security
Participants will be well spaced (2 to a table at either end) and windows will be kept open. If you are displaying any Coronavirus symptoms or have had a positive test in the last 14 days you will not be allowed to attend.
