Congratulations! You have chosen the telephone to go on display in this case.

This telephone dates to the 1920s and was used in H & A Bennett department store, which was located at 32 and 34 Market Street, Leicester. This store was later taken over by Fenwick Ltd.

The dial on the front allowed the user to connect to any one of 15 other phones wired together within the same building.

It was made by the Leicester based company Gent and Co Ltd.

Congratulations! You have chosen the pattens to go on display in this case.

These wooden platforms attached to metal rings were designed to lift the wearer above muddy or dirty streets. Secured with leather straps, they were worn over regular shoes to protect footwear and dress hems from getting soiled in the late 1800s.

They were discovered in the cellar of 77 Southgate Street, Leicester, before the building was demolished.

Congratulations!

The objects you have chosen are now on display.

The next object to be displayed in this case will be one of yours.

If you have an object that you would like to display, please speak to a member of staff.
