This medal was awarded to Stanley Clifford Moore in 1967 on completing his term as the 102nd President of the Leicester and District Butchers Association.

The association worked to promote the interests of the trade and provide professional and social activities for its members, including dinner dances at The Grand Hotel and De Montfort Hall in Leicester.

Stanley and his wife May ran the butcher’s shop at 7 Melton Road, Leicester for 43 years before retiring in 1979. During this time, Stanley served in the Second World War, May managed war time rationing, and on one occasion an out-of-control vehicle crashed through their shop window.
