This beautifully crafted box from Germany celebrates the festive season. The Christmas tree is painted with thick layers of colour and decorated with traditional baubles and lighted candles. The sides of the box and the lid are made from one strip of wood carefully bent to form a circular shape, which are glued to the top and base to form what is known as a bentwood box.

The Object of the Month can be seen in person throughout December at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.
