The civilisation of ancient Greece had an enormous impact on western philosophy, politics, theatre and the arts. Taking on the role of historians, children can examine different styles of decorated pottery to discover what they can reveal about life, rituals and beliefs. Other real and replica objects in this box explore Greek mythology, the Olympic Games and everyday life in a complex society.

Learning outcomes:

  • To study of Greek life and achievements and their influence on the western world 
  • To note historical connections and contrasts over time 
  • To understand how knowledge of the past is constructed from a range of sources  

The box is available to collect from Leicester Museum & Art Gallery and costs £55.00 for a two-week loan.
