Free Guided Tours of Leicester Guildhall in May

Starting with its Great Hall built in about 1390, a tour of Leicester Guildhall will take you through the many uses of the site through the centuries with a particular flourish on our Royal Connections!

Including Queen Anne, King James, King Charles I and King Charles II as well as King George ... and of course we cannot forget King Richard III.

The Guildhall was first used as a meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi. It is a space where even Shakespeare may have acted. The Guildhall houses one of the oldest public libraries. It was also the town hall and even a Victorian Police Station.

'Jan C' on Tripadvisor:

A hidden gem! Excellent and free guided tour by volunteer Mark really brought the history of the building to life. Fascinating.

'Journey' on Tripadvisor

The Guildhall Tour was excellent! The tour guide Mark had a very engaging style, the tour lasted 1.5 hours but was fascinating all the way through. I had no idea the Guildhall was so central not only to the history of Leicester but all of England, amazing to think of all the things that occurred there.
