Learn to Draw a Portrait in Charcoal with Alex Cooper

Charcoal is a great medium to draw portraits with as it can produce lovely, varied tones from the darkest of darks to highlights. Come and have a go under Alex's expert guidance.

About the Tutor

Alex Cooper is a portrait and figurative painter working largely in oils.

Alex says "The landscape of the face and human form are my inspiration and I hope to bring something to a painting that will allow the viewer to make up their own mind about the sitter's thoughts at the time. The 'ordinary' fascinates me and if possible I like to inject a bit of humour when the subject allows."

Alex is a member of LSA and Leicester Sketch Club. Read more about Alex Cooper.

Part of a series of workshops by artists of the Leicester Society of Artists: Annual Exhibition at Newarke Houses, in partnership with Leicester Museums & Galleries.
