Part of the 'Leicester Society of Artists Annual Exhibition'

Come along and meet LSA artist Lesley Brooks as she demonstrates how she uses a variety of drawing materials in her work.

‘Drawing small compositions, colour and tone notes are fundamental to my practice. I find it useful to familiarise myself with the subject, so that I can explore the space and relationship between fore, middle and distant ground and the shapes that occupy those areas.

Colour notes are so important too, as I draw and paint I am responding emotionally and analytically to the colours I see in the landscape or still life.

Sometimes the resulting drawing/ painting reveals surprising outcomes for me, often more rewarding than I could ever plan.’
