Event Description

Upcycling for Everyone hands-on workshops: learn new skills and make new friends

Upcycling for Everyone

Free workshops:

Saturday 20th April, 11am - 3pm
Saturday 11th May, 11am - 3pm
Saturday 8th June, 11am - 3pm

This series of hands-on upcycling workshops is for everyone to learn new skills and make new friends. Local sustainable artists, designers and makers will share their secrets for turning everyday household waste into a useful product or beautiful piece of art.

Each workshop uses different materials (e.g., paper, plastics, textiles) so that each time you learn a new set of skills to deal with different waste materials. All the tools used in the workshops will be common tools (e.g., scissors, hammer, needle) so that you can replicate what you have learned at home. Whether you are new to the world of upcycling or an advanced upcycler, we have a range of activities to suit different skill levels. You will be upcycling and making things together while chatting with your fellow upcyclers, which is a great way to make new friends too. We have all the materials and tools ready for you. All you need to bring is your smiley face. Please join us for the fun of Saturday upcycling.

These workshops are part of ‘Upcycling for Everyone’ project funded by De Montfort University’s QR Funding for Participatory Research, in partnership with Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, LCB Depot, Eva Organisation for Women, and Green Meadows.

Drop-in, free event for all ages.
