Leicester International Music Festival present the 77th season of Lunchtime Concerts

Lunchtime Concerts 2022-23

The Leicester International Music Festival brings the world's finest musicians to a magnificent setting.

Enjoy world-class chamber music in the Victorian Gallery, at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.

Lunchtime Concerts take place every other Thursday, 1.00 - 2.00pm (doors open 12.30pm)

Lunchtime Concert 2022-23 Programme:



  • Thursday 29th September: REBECA OMORDIA (PIANO)
    The British Romanian-Nigerian pianist, Rebeca Omordia, plays music from her critically-acclaimed album ‘African Pianism’, featuring the music of seven African composers.

  • Thursday 13th October: ORSINO WIND ENSEMBLE
    The Orsino Wind Ensemble is made up of five outstanding wind players: Adam Walker (flute); Nicholas Daniel (oboe); Matthew Hunt (clarinet); Amy Harman (bassoon) & Ben Goldsheider (horn)

  • Thursday 27th October: MATHILDE MILWIDSKY (VIOLIN)
    An exceptionally talented young British violinist, praised by The Strad for her"perfect intonation and beautiful shaping and colouring, comprehensively nailing each new stylistic and emotional universe as she went."

  • Thursday 10th November: PIATTI QUARTET
    The Piatti Quartet are one of the most distinguished quartets of their generation. Prizewinners at the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, since when they have gone from strength to strength.

  • Thursday 24th November: FENELLA HUMPHREYS (VIOLIN) & DANIEL GRIMWOOD (PIANO)
    Two of Britain’s most outstanding artists: ‘The atmosphere created by Humphreys and Grimwood was very special and certainly will not be forgotten for a long time.’

  • Thursday 8th December: JAMES NEWBY (BARITONE) & SIMON LEPPER (PIANO)
    James is a BBC New Generation Artist, an Ensemble member of Staatsoper Hannover and a former Rising Star for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. We are pleased to welcome this outstanding young singer home to Leicester.

  • Thursday 19th January 2023: ELYSIUM BRASS
    The exciting brass ensemble, comprising players who met at the Guildhall School of Music, now with distinguished solo careers. This will be the group’s third visit to Leicester.

  • Thursday 2nd February: YUGEN SAXOPHONE QUARTET
    The Yugen Quartet are an upcoming British saxophone quartet, exploring diverse repertoire. This performance is in conjunction with the Birmingham Conservatoire.

  • Thursday 16th February: THE MITHRAS TRIO
    The award-winning young piano trio, who recorded two brilliant online concerts for LIMF during lockdown.

  • Thursday 2nd March: THE PURCELL SCHOOL
    Students from Britain’s oldest specialist music school, which has produced many outstanding artists - including our own Artistic Director, Nicholas Daniel! Their previous visit was a resounding success.

  • Thursday 16th March: BEN GOLDSHEIDER (HORN) & RICHARD UTTLEY (PIANO)
    The winner of BBC Young Musician in 2016 joins the brilliant pianist, Richard Uttley, who has previously taken part in our annual Festival.

  • Thursday 30th March: IYAD SUGHAYER (PIANO)
    The award winning Jordanian-Palestinian pianist, who recorded for us so memorably during lockdown, begins an exciting new collaborative project with us in Leicester - more details to come!
