Free tour of the wonders of Abbey Pumping Station!

Join us for an exclusive FREE tour of Abbey Pumoing Station's 'Transport Shed'.

The  tour includes viewing the heritage vehicles in the Abbey Pumping StationTransport shed including the Aveling & Porter Steam Roller, Bagnall Steam Locomotive “Leonard”, Leicester Corporation busses, Dennis Fire Engines F8 and F7 and many more. The story of each vehicle will be detailed by the our dedicated Leicester Museums Technology Association Volunteers.

Maximum capacity for each tour is 10 visitors and pre-booking is essential

This event forms part of the national Heritage Open Days 2026.

Event parking is available at the National Space Centre, located next door to the museum (Exploration Drive, LE4 5NS). The walkway entrance to Abbey Pumping Station is clearly signposted from the car park.

Several bus routes serve Abbey Lane, just a short walk from the site, and the venue is easily accessible by public transport.We can’t wait to welcome you to this exciting new event — come hungry, bring your friends and family, and help us celebrate local creativity in spectacular historic surroundings.
