Daniel Lambert Gallery

Leicester’s gaol keeper Daniel Lambert was famous for his strength and skill with animals, but most of all for his huge size. Learn more about this colourful character, see his chair and items of clothing including his shirt and waistcoat.

Kampala to Leicester Gallery

In August 1972, Ugandan dictator Idi Amin gave the Asian community 90 days notice to leave the country. They were forced to leave almost everything in Uganda and seek refuge in other countries such as Britain and Canada.

Using original film, personal testimony and rare artefacts borrowed from Leicester’s Ugandan Asian community, this permanent exhibition tells a powerful and important story of survival, sacrifice, adventure and success.

Garden Galleries

Our three garden galleries offer an adaptable space for temporary exhibitions, talks, lectures and special events. The garden galleries are also available to hire for private events.
